Zero Gravity massage chairs have become an industry standard, but not all zero gravity chairs offer the same benefits.
I like the Luraco i7, which is a top-of-the-line chair, but it doesn’t always fit into everyone’s budget. On a stricter budget, the Kahuna LM-6800 is my #1 choice.
But, price isn’t the only thing to consider when buying a zero-gravity chair. That’s why we’ve put together this list of the best zero gravity chairs in each category.
Key Takeaway: We’ve categorized the top massage chairs only with zero gravity features to simplify your search for the chair that suits your needs.

Zero Gravity Massage Chair Reviews (2020 List)
We’ve selected the key categories that zero-gravity massage chairs fall into, from best overall to best budget buys, and selected the best models in each category.
So, while all of the chairs on the list have zero-gravity, they each have their own unique features that make them special.
1. Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus Massage Chair – Best Overall
The Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus is the best zero gravity model on the market. It is as close to a personal masseuse as you’re going to get. But the best reason for buying this chair is that it is made in the USA (with some parts imported from Taiwan), it’s good enough fr the Army, and it’s won numerous Best awards, including Best of Show and Best of CES Award.
The i7 Plus will give you 3 years of industry-leading massages, guaranteed, with an extra 2 years guarantee on parts. It is a replacement for the standard Luraco iRobotics 7. With better speakers, a better touchscreen remote control, and new individual sections and intensity, it takes massaging chairs to the next level.
The intensity is controlled by a hundred individual airbags; there’s an optional health monitor that keeps track of your blood pressure and heart rate.
Individual body parts can be selected, from your head to toes; each part can be adjusted separately or even omitted. The taping can be set to variable, constant, or percussion.
Quietest Chair – The quiet technology makes this the quietest chair on the market, so you can lay back and relax without too much buzzing.
Made in the USA – The chair is assembled and quality controlled in the USA, with American and imported Taiwanese parts, with USA customer service. If something goes wrong with your chair, which is highly doubtful, you won’t have to deal with retailers or customer service reps from some strange place that deny your problems, this chair is made to last and has been FDA approved.
3-year Warranty – The chair is warrantied for 3 years, with a 2 year extended warranty on parts. The 3-year warranty covers in-home parts and labor. So you can rest assured that your investment will more than pay for itself before the time comes that it may need to be replaced.
3-tiered Calf & Foot Massage – Sore calves are a thing of the past. The extra layer of airbags in the calf and foot region ensures that your calves aren’t neglected in any way; they get the same treatment as the rest of your body.
3D Roller Intensity Adjustment -Unlike the i7, the i7 Plus is now more adjustable. The lower back and mid-back, calves, and feet have become separate body parts. That means you can set the intensity of the 3d massage rollers on each of these areas separately or choose to select or omit these individual areas.
Airbag Intensity Adjustment – The airbags in the calves and feet can now also be adjusted separately for an even more personalized massage.
Bluetooth Speakers – The Bluetooth speakers have been upgraded to a higher quality. They can be found at the back of the chair and pair seamlessly with any Bluetooth device so you can listen to your favorite music in crystal clear quality as you lay back and relax.
Unique Tapping Rhythms – The i7 Plus has three different tapping rhythms to choose from, constant, variable, or percussion. The speed of the tapping of the constant setting can be adjusted for an even more personalized massaging experience.
Health Monitoring – Besides the obvious body scan feature which most chairs have, you can now opt to add a health monitoring feature that tracks your blood pressure and heart rate, meaning you can keep track of your vitals before, during, and after your massage.
5 Personalized Massage Memory – Using a high-tech operating system, the i7 can store up to 5 personal massages on top of the pre-set programs.
PROS
- Industry-leading technology
- Literally the best chair on the market.
- Made in the USA, FDA approved 5-year limited warranty.
- Max height: 6’7”; Max weight: 300 lbs
CONS
- Stretch Mode is very gentle which may not get t the right spots if you’re healthy, but it’s more than adequate if you’ve got back issues. It’s won’t pull you apart.
- It is expensive, but a worthy investment.
Key Takeaway: Made by Americans for Americans the Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus is the best massaging chair on the market. While it has zero-gravity, this is not the leading reason to buy this chair by far. As far as an industry leader goes, this is it, in any category, except budget, but it is still a worthy investment.

2. Human Touch Super Novo Massage Chair – Best Space Saver
The Human Touch Super Novo needs only 2” of wall space to switch between seated and zero gravity, making t the best space saver. On top of this, it has 38 auto programs, 4-D rollers, SL-track, a Virtual Therapist who can anticipate your likes and dislikes, and runs through an Alexa operated control that has a handy docking station and a full Altec Lansing Sound System.
But what makes the Human Touch even more unique is that it has SL-track, which is perfect for relieving lower back pain, especially sciatica caused by tight gluteal muscles that pinch nerves.

Key Takeaway: Besides the obvious space-saving design, if you’re big, tall, suffer from knee pain or lower back pain, this is a very good option for you. It is a bit pricey, but you won’t get a more sturdy and compact model that will help you relax your lower back.

3. Kahuna Massage Chair Recliner LM-6800 – Zero Gravity Full-Body – Best Budget Chair
For the price on Amazon, you’re not going to find a zero gravity massage chair that has all the same functionality as the Kahuna LM 6800. While the feet and calf rollers on this budget chair can be painful, this chair comes with added padding, and if this isn’t enough, you can always add an extra cushioned pad or some fabric to make it less harsh.
That being said, the LM 6800 has all the functionality of a high-end chair, albeit not to the same degree of expertise, including body scan, zero gravity, and even arm massage. It’s one of the cheapest (yet reliable) L-track chairs, with five different massage techniques and three-speed and intensity settings over various individual areas of the body.
L-track – The L-track uses a 4 roller massage system to relieve pain throughout the lower back and buttocks, giving relief to lower back pain and even some forms of sciatica.
Space-Saving Zero-Gravity – the space-saving technology only needs 3” of wall space for the three different zero gravity positions. Zero-Gravity has been proven to be the most effective position to enjoy a massage.
Dual Foot Rollers – Not many budget chairs include foot and leg massage, but the LM 6800 does. While the intensity of the dual-roller can be a bit much for some, this is easily remedied by adding a layer of padding.
Computerized Body Scan – Even though it’s a cheaper model, it still comes equipped with a full-body scan to ensure you get a massage that’s tailored to your size and shape.
5 Manual Massage Techniques – including Kneading, Tapping, Rolling, Shiatsu, and a combination of Kneading / Tapping, giving you a wide variety of options to choose from to get the massage that works best for you.
6 Auto Programs – Including the Yoga- Stretching program, which increases circulation and revitalizes your body with a series of stretching and massaging. The SH-Chiro program combines shiatsu and chiropractic techniques to relieve stress and tension in your spine.
Heating Therapy – relieves pain in the lower back and legs.
Personal Adjustment Options – The roller speed and air cell massage intensity can be adjusted to three different levels, while massages can be targeted to individual areas including upper back, lower back, entire back, lower body, lower back & body.
PROS
- Affordable
- Has all the main functions of high-end chairs
- Space-saving
CONS
- Foot roller can be harsh
- Has fewer adjustments than high-end models
- Not good for tall/heavy people
Key Takeaway: The Kahuna LM6800 has all the functions that are essential to getting a good zero gravity massage, but for a fraction of the price of some of the other chairs. It’s good quality, with different pre-set massage programs that target common problem areas and a good amount of personal adjustment options. You’ll struggle to find a zero gravity model that does everything this one does for the same price.

What is Zero Gravity?
It sounds like space-grade technology and that’s exactly where zero gravity comes from. NASA first came across this as being the optimum position for astronauts during lift-off as it puts the least pressure on their body during the high g-force they experience as the ship rockets into space.
While it gives a “weightless” feeling, the person’s body weight is just distributed more evenly in this reclined position.
What this reclined, cupped, “feet above heart” position means for massaging chairs is that, firstly, you aren’t putting any stress or strain n a specific area. So, the parts of your body that are generally weight-bearing (spine, neck, hips, knees, ankles) all get a chance to relax completely.
Secondly, it makes the massage chair more effective as you are “falling into” the rollers and airbags, instead of being pushed forward and out of the chair while the chair does its job. This means you get a more effective and relaxing massage because you’re not constantly fighting against the movement of the chair.
Key Takeaway: Zero gravity is a fully supportive reclined position that makes you feel weightless and helps you get a more relaxing and effective massage.
Zero Gravity Benefits
Besides the two benefits mentioned above, it has been found that zero gravity massage chairs actually have the following added health benefits:
- Better Circulation: As your feet are raised your veins in your legs are opened, allowing for better circulation, this also takes the stress off your heart, which doesn’t have to pump blood “up” your body, reducing not only heart rate and blood pressure, but also minimizing swelling and blood pooling in the lower extremities.. It also means oxygenated blood can reach your cells for better healing/recovery.
- Stress Relief and Relaxation: As you’re “floating” in the air, the stress and strain are taken off your body, allowing it to relax, but this has a mental effect as well. The more relaxed your body is, the more serotonin you’re producing, giving you added stress relief.
- Pain Relief: As the zero gravity position takes the pressure off your weight-bearing areas, it reduces the strain that is put on these hard-working body parts. This is especially noticeable in the lower back and neck area. Our modern lifestyles often require sitting in less-than-optimal positions for extended periods of time, which can put unnecessary stress on these body parts, so a relaxing, supportive recline provides welcome relief to painful/bad “posture points.”
Key Takeaway: Zero Gravity isn’t just a relaxing reclined position, it also has key health benefits of modern massage chairs that can help relieve pain and improve healing and wellbeing.
Final Words
Of the zero gravity chairs on the list, the Lucaro i7 stands out above the rest, but they each have their redeeming features.
The Human Touch has a virtual massage therapist on top of being the most space-saving.
Both the Kahuna Lm 6800 and SM 7300 are good value for money, with all the key features you’d need. The LM 6800 has L-Track, while the SM offers a good S-track and the highest max weight (320lbs).
For the best upper and mid-back relief, the Osaki’s S-track can’t be beaten. While the Real Relax gives you the best price for a relatively good chair that won’t let you down like other models in that price range.
